2023 CW Girls Lacrosse in Review

2023 saw a return of our U-13 Program, one that had not been in place for several years. The U-13 team was built of new players to the sport and they proved to be a mighty force on the floor. The young Riverhawks squad earned a bronze medal in their first ever tournament, followed by a jump on the podium to a silver medal in the next. The team earned a Zone 8 Championship banner by defeating their local nemesis, Guelph Regals, multiple times during the season. In provincials, the team came away with a bronze medal. Additionally, two players from the team (Fiona and Khloe) were named to Team Ontario and played at nationals that took place in Regina, Saskatchewan, coming away with a silver medal. Great year, looking forward to 2024!

Our U-15 team in 2023 competed hard and improved substantially throughout the season. This team also earned a bronze medal in their first tournament of the season. In the second tournament they earned a silver medal. In provincials, they came away third in the province, beating their nemesis Orangeville 3-0 in their final game. Rylee was named to Team Ontario and won a national championship in Regina! 2024 will bring new excitement, challenges and triumphs for this group of young athletes, can’t wait!

Our U-17 team was small in numbers but fought hard in games. This team also improved substantially throughout the year, making it to the Semi-Finals in provincials. Many of these players had not played lacrosse before but got better with each practice and game they played. Let’s see what 2024 brings for this crew!
