CWMLA is excited to announce a number of coaches rounding out our teams as we get closer to the start of the season.
Our U17 boys box lacrosse program will be lead by Dawson Mackenzie who brings a considerable amount of lacrosse experience and pedigree with him as a Elora Jr. B player, Bramton/KW Jr. A, and Princeton Grad. Dawson has lined up with him a number of returning Centre Wellington players all with equally distinguished player careers and experiences. Shawn Lantz played Jr. A with KW, Jr. B in Elora, Senior B in Owen Sound and had a short stint with Toronto Rock, Klayton Hoelscher was the Elora Jr. B captain leading that team to a Founders Cup Championship.
Returning back to our program again, and leading our U15 Boys Box lacrosse team will be Chris Redwood with Doug Hastie. Chris Redwood is a long time resident of the area, playing lacrosse all the way through to the professional level. Doug Hastie last coached a fantastic group of young men on the midget team to an 'A' silver medal at the Ontario provincial championships. Both candidates are a fantastic addition to the strong coaching group for 2022.
U9 boys field lacrosse will be headed up by Jason Craddock a veteran coach having been with the association for a number of years with his oldest, Jake, coaching a variety of teams both box and field from U9 all the way up to U15. Jason also has considerable hockey coaching experience both at the minor and up to the national level.
Taking on the U15 boys field lacrosse team is Ryan Martin a long time resident of the area, born in the United States Ryan played field growing up, only later realizing that you could play the game inside. He is currently part of the bench staff with the University of Guelph, and working at the High School to help develop the game there. Ryan attended this year's brainstorming session and provided some great insight and help in preliminary direction of our field programs for the year. Ryan is also a past coach with the association, coaching both field and box teams.
And finally, we have Tegan McManus, Kylie Sullivan, and Brittney Schwende stepping up to coach our U15 girls box lacrosse team. All three of these young women have strong lacrosse backgrounds and the committee feels that they would be a fantastic asset to our existing lineup of 2022 coaches.
Looking forward to a fantastic year with CW Minor Lacrosse.
