The local league program starts mid-April and runs through to the end of the school year. For larger groups where more than one team is anticipated, players will start with a skills assessment night, typically run with the assistance of the executive, to split teams evenly based on skill set.

Teams receive 1 - 2 practices together, and then it is into games. Games are played against other local centres within our Zone to minimize travel. Typically teams are made up from Centre Wellington, Guelph, Kitchener Waterloo, and Cambridge. However, this will depend on registration club registrations. The Zone 8 local league scheduler aims to get 8 games per season for the players.

Although Local League only permits controlled contact, players are required to wear full lacrosse equipment including: helmet, gloves, arm guards, shoulder pads, kidney pads. Court shoes are recommended to avoid slipping on the concrete floor.

Games are typically held on a recurring night of the week based on division:

  • U9 (2016 & 2017) - Monday
  • U11 (2014 & 2015) - Wednesday
  • U13 (2012 & 2013) - Monday
  • U15 (2010 & 2011) - Wednesday
  • In the event that there is a merged U13/U15 age group, that program will run on Monday

Practices can be on Friday/Saturday/Sunday depending on the coach and team's availability/interest.

The culmination of the season ends with a wrap-up tournament hosted in one of the local centres with all teams getting the opportunity to play multiple games over a day or two.
