CWMLA is pleased to announce it's coaches for the inaugural Riverhawks season and return to normal lacrosse for 2022!
Our U7 Select players will be coached by Kyle Goss. Growing up as a local player, Kyle has been around the game for many years. He got back into coaching with CWMLA at the bantam level moving up year-over-year with that group and eventually graduated into the head coaching position of the Junior B Mohawks! Kyle lead the 2018 team to a Founders Cup championship. We are excited to have Kyle starting again with this group!
Brandon MacKenzie will head up the coaching team for our U9's this year. Brandon is a long time resident of Centre Wellington and Junior B Alumni. Brandon's long time love of the sport and dedication to coaching was evident last year as he assisted not one, but two teams in our return to play programming last year. We are excited to bring Brandon back again to continue to develop our future leaders in the community.
As a first time coaching with the U11 group Kasey Beirnes is excited for the team change. A new opportunity to share his knowledge and experience with a new group of players. No doubt that Kasey and the players will bring the best out of each other as a new voice to this group and a fresh set of faces will promote a fresh atmosphere.
New opportunities have arisen with Rob Stovel Jr stepping in to coach the U13's. Rob assisted with Craig England and the successful U17 Rising Stars team in 2021. He and your CWMLA executive feel that he is ready for the jump to head coach position. The Stovel name is almost synonymous with lacrosse as his father was also a long time coach in the community. We are excited as Rob Stovel Jr starts his journey into coaching lacrosse with us, and continues his lacrosse career with the San Diego Seals.
U22 is a tough age as player commitments make forming and working with a team difficult. But, Sam Renaud as committed to the program as ever has stepped up to return as the coach for these young women. It seems that Sam is never to far away from a lacrosse game, and is constantly picking up new information about the game. We are excited for Sam's return and the return of U22 lacrosse to CWMLA.
