The OLA has expanded Sixes programming this fall from the 2023 Thanksgiving Trial. CWMLA will be supporting our U9/U11/U13 athletes this fall with some new local Sixes programming.
Starting September 9th and running for five weeks until October 11th, CWMLA will be running a local Sixes program. Sixes is a fast-paced hybrid of box and field lacrosse that will be a part of the Olympics in 2028!
Our U9s (2016, 2017 and 2018) will run on Tuesday* night starting at 5:30 pm (tentatively behind the Fergus arena). Programming will include 30 minutes of skills followed by 60 minutes of gameplay. This will allow our coaches and players to learn the new game preparing our players for competitive play in this new format.
Our U11 (2014 and 2015) and U13s (2012 and 2013) will run on Thursday* night starting at 6:00 pm (tentatively behind the Fergus arena). Programming will include 30 minutes of skills followed by 60 minutes of gameplay.
Pending details from the OLA official Sixes programming, our fall Sixes athletes will have the opportunity to participate in a Sixes select team that will play interlock games with other centres, and potentially be able to participate in the provincial championship.
The cost of the fall Sixes program for all divisions will be $150. Select teams will have additional team fees to cover the cost of OLA team registration and additional game fees.
To Register for CWMLA Fall Sixes visit the OLA SportzSoft registration page.
Field officials, we will require officials on-site to assist with gameplay, if this is something that you are interested please reach out to sixes@cwminorlacrosse.ca.
* Please note programming dates/times may be subject to change based on team hockey nights, this is to accomodate as many players as possible.
