Coaching Requirements

• NCCP # (email registrar@cwminorlacrosse.ca if you can't find or don't know yours)
• OLA Coaching certification for the level they are coaching (level requirements)
• Making Head Way concussion training
• Making Ethical Decisions training is highly recommended
• Teams are required to have a prepared EAP accessible at any event they are participating in
• Criminal Reference Check required for personnel over 18 (see below)

Criminal Reference Checks

Have you completed your Vulnerable Sector Check? Below you will find information that you need to fill out a Vulnerable Sector Check Form as well as the additional information required to complete the application process.

• New volunteers must complete the Vulnerable Sector Check Online in order to volunteer within the association. NOTE: this is a new online process for 2023.
• Returning annual volunteers may fill out and email (kevin.detweiler@opp.ca) the Offense Declaration Form indicating any criminal convictions since the completion of the Vulnerable Sector Check Form.
• Acceptable Forms of ID lists the types of ID that can be used to complete the Vulnerable Sector Check Form.
• CWMLA - Vulnerable Sector Check Cover Letter is used in conjunction with the Vulnerable Sector Check Form.

To avoid missing out on the season, make sure to submit your Vulnerable Sector Checks early to ensure they are processed before the start of the season.

IMPORTANT! Once your Vulnerable Sector Check has been submitted ONLINE, please email Kevin kevin.detweiler@opp.ca) a notification so that he is able to look for and track the results for all coaches/assistants/managers/etc.

Coaching Clinics

The 2023 OLA Coaching clinic listing has been posted to the OLA Coaching Clinics page.

• clinics run from March 4th to May 13th
• community development required for first year coaches and for U13 and below
• competitive intro required for U15 and above coaches
• plenty of opportunity to obtain your required certifications for the upcoming season
• please contact our Director of Box Lacrosse, Steve Boys, at directorbox@cwminorlacrosse.ca if you require a course

Paperweight Lacrosse Rules

In order to further the development of our young players, the OLA minor council has standardized how the paperweight program will be played across the province. The rules can be reviewed seen in their Paperweight Lacrosse Playing Regulations release.
